Jo-Carol has been honored with sainthood by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Since their founding in 1979, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. have been a force for social activism in San Francisco and queer meccas throughout the world. Their common vows are to promulgate universal joy and expiate stigmatic guilt. Their shared ministry is one of public manifestation and habitual perpetration. They pledge support to their fellow sisters toward their personal and collective enlightenment.
